The immigration of the Shoub family took over a decade.

Joseph naturalized in 1922, which conferred citizenship to him, Bella his wife, and minor daughter Sara. His petition's RCMP report showed that he worked as a clerk in a grocery store, and his oath of office showed that his mastery of English was limited. It appears that through honest hard work, he saved enough to bring over his family, except for Wolf.

According to family, "Wolf was murdered as a boy while living in Russia. The soldiers entered their home to steal their food. They went for the sacks of potatoes. Wolf was protecting the potatoes and he got shot for doing this. He might have been about 13 years old.".
